History of the partnership
NIFVS in partnership since 2006.
The NIFVS partnership formed on 1 July 2006, following the reforms to the family violence service sector introduced by the Victorian Government.The NIFVS Partnership Management Group (PMG) was the group charged with leading NIFVS’ work.
The group began as a partnership between Anglicare Victoria, Berry Street Victoria, Elizabeth Hoffman House (EHH) and Women’s Health In the North (WHIN). In mid-2008, Salvation Army Crossroads Mary Anderson Family Violence Services (MAFVS) joined the PMG. The Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA) and Georgina Martina Inc. (GMI) also joined the PMG, in 2009.
In late 2011, organisations in the northern metropolitan region (NMR) providing services to men who used violence—Kildonan UnitingCare, Plenty Valley Community Health and Sunbury Community Health Centre—were invited to join the PMG.
In 2014, the PMG undertook a review of existing governance arrangements and committed to increasing representation across the entire family violence system. At this time, the PMG underwent a name change to the NIFVS Regional Integration Committee (the Committee).
The review of the governance structure was informed by the then Department of Human Services (DHS) guidelines supporting regional integration, including the below documents:
- Guiding Integrated Family Violence Service Reform (DHS, 2006-2009)
- Regional Family Violence Integration Governance Model (DHS, 2013)
